Bus Network Changes

Sydney’s CBD bus network has been redesigned. All George Street routes have been redirected and new priority routes now operate along Elizabeth, Castlereagh, Park, Druitt, Clarence and York streets.

BUS CHANGES IN THE CBD

In October 2015 a new Sydney CBD bus network was introduced with new priority routes along Elizabeth, Castlereagh, Park, Druitt, Clarence and York streets. As part of these changes, and to coincide with major construction of the new light rail, buses stopped using George Street. The new network will ultimately reduce the number of buses caught in peak hour traffic and make it easier to move through the city. The full benefits of the changes will be felt when light rail starts. For more information on how the new routes operate, see our interactive map.
